A series of Rounders Nights was held over the summer on Monday evenings, and were a GREAT success. Well done to everyone that turned out, and special mention to the efforts of John Maguire and his team who made the evenings fun and exciting for all. Although this is finished for the winter, it will start again next year. If you have kids between 3 and 103, just turn up on the night! We'll let you know when it starts again. |
The Summer BBQ was NOT held on the back green in June due to the bad weather. Some of you might remember that there were a few rainy days over the summer, and the BBQ night unfortunately was one of those! Instead, the BBQ was moved to O'Dwyers pub, who at very short notice kindly arranged to have the food cooked on their own equipment. As usual, we beat the weather, and everyone that turned up had a great night. Well done Dara! |
We have been in touch with Santa, who tells us that he will make every effort to call to Lakelands on Christmas Eve around 6:00 (ish!) to say good night to all the kids in the estate. |
We are organising a mulled wine 'get together' on the back green on Saturday December 27th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Just something simple - a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, so we can meet our neighbours. More on this closer to the event. We'd love to get some idea of numbers, so we will be in touch at a later date. |
If you own a dog: Please clean up after your dog. Several people have been spotted in the estate walking their dog, and not cleaning up after them. Remember, there is a hefty fine for anyone that leaves their dogs mess behind. If you don't own a dog: Don't be shy about pointing out the error to any dog walkers, should you see them walking on without cleaning up. Finally: If you let your dog out at night without a lead - make sure they don't leave anything behind when they come back. |
Work continues on the transfer of lands to the residents on the south side of the Close. While there is a legal difficulty with some of the transfers, our solicitor will progress any transfers that he can, and will then concentrate on the more difficult cases. |
We have had an offer from one of the residents to organise a Golf event in the spring (within 10 miles of Lakelands). At this stage, we are simply checking out the interest level. If you are interested (no commitment), please email us and let us know how many people in your house would be interested.committee@lakelandsresidents.com |
With all the turmoil in the markets at the moment, this is a quiet time for planning in the Industrial Estates. The Atlantic building is being taken down. At this stage, we believe that this is to make way for a car park. If there is any change to this, we'll let you know. There may be some activity in the Stillorgan Shopping Centre area. We'll put details on the web site when we have more. |
You may have noticed some of the committee and other residents walking around taking pictures of the ground! They are actually compiling a list of work that is required to improve the estate. The Council are already working on several areas of the estate - you have probably noticed the improvements to the front green, and several pavements. |
Have fun and be safe on Halloween night. And be generous to any kids that call!!! |
We've had a few reports of post being delivered to the wrong addresses. We would like to know if this problem is rare or regular, so please inform a member of the committee if you have had experience of this. |
If you know someone that hasn't received this newsletter, please pass it on. Please also pass us any email changes, new emails etc. that we should include on our circulation list. |
