Sandyford Urban Framework Plan: Urgent Update (2011/08/20)

At the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Meeting on the 11th April 2011 your elected Councillors put forward and passed the following motions with which your residents association agrees. That this Council amend CDP Variation No 2- Draft SUFP (Sandyford Urban Framework Plan) as follows: remove the provision for additional height on Sites 3 and 4 (D14) and remove relevant star symbol which denotes special provision for additional height of 1-2 storeys.

This motion was accepted by the County Manager, Owen Keegan, and incorporated into the Draft of the Sandyford Urban Framework Plan. The County Manager, following submissions by a number of landowners/developers, now wishes to REVERSE this motion. He recommends ADDITIONAL HEIGHTS along Blackthorn Avenue and is reneging on his commitment from April of this year. He also mentioned at the April meeting that he had heard no opinions from the residents of Lakelands.

The final vote on the Sandyford Urban Framework plan will take place on Monday September 12. Up to twenty eight Councillors will vote on this plan at the Council meeting. We strongly URGE residents to CONTACT the County Manager and the County Councillors to ensure that they support the original motions. Please remind the local councillors to obtain the support of of their fellow party members on the Council.

Update: Lakelands Clean-up

The clean up will take place from 7.30pm on Monday the 20th of June.

Event: Sports Day and Barbecue 2011

This year, Sports Day will take place on the front green on Sat 11th June from 2.30pm. Friday 10th June clean up at 7pm, at same time as work is being done to set up the green for the sports day – lots of volunteers required!

The Barbecue will take place on the back green on Sat 25th June from 5.30 pm.

Signs will be going up for the two events closer to the dates and John Maguire will send out invites to all using Teamer.

Those who are successful at our sports day on June 11th will be eligible for community games in Santry (June 18-19th). We are also looking to see if we can register for community games swimming in Tallaght (July 3rd).

Sandyford Urban Framework Plan: Proposed Variation #2

Please have a look at attached file. It lists a number of observations on Variation No 2: Sandyford Urban Framework Plan (SUFP) and it will be voted on by county councillors as early as Monday 11 April 2011.

The new plan is a good improvement on earlier plans, however, local councillors have agreed to put forward a motion which would include limiting the planned height of the Siemens and old MJ Flood sites to 6 storeys. Unfortunately, all 28 councillors will be voting and so our local councillors will need a lot of support.

Once passed, this SUFP plan will become an ammendment to the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Developement Plan 2010-2016.

The Lakelands Residents AGM 2011 will be held on Wednesday February 9th in Keily’s of Mount Merrion at 7:30pm.

Events: Christmas drinks 2010

Due to the inclement weather, the Christmas drinks were cancelled. Again, we hope to have a return this year.

Events: Barbecue 2011

Lets hope for similar weather to last year, which was a great success.

The barbecue will be held on the back green on in June as usual.

Events: Sports Day 2011

The annual sports day will be held again this June on the front green – so get training (especially anyone interested in the fathers race).

As usual, the event will be hosted by Dara and John, so you are guaranteed a fun day out!

Events: Santa 2010

Santa didn’t get around to see the kids this year, as he was busy elsewhere. Hopefully he will make a return this year.

Estate revamp

The Council are already working on several areas of the estate – you have probably noticed the improvements to the front green, and several pavements.

Pedestrian lights have also been installed near the main Lakelands entrance.
